KALAKOTE, July 26: A webinar on ‘water crisis’ in Kalakote was organized by Block Congress Committee members today which was conducted by former legislator Ashok Sharma.
The participants in the webinar from Chingus, Loorkote, Kalalkass, Sarhoti, Panar, Panjah, Breavi, Kalakote and Narsinghpura participated and expressed their serious concern over the scarcity of drinking water, non- functioning of filtration plants at Sair, Panar and Saroti. They also raised the issues of defunct irrigation schemes including Moghla-Chabber, Saranoo-Dangri, Kallar, Androlla-Chakli, Dalhori, Kalara, Sewa and Khabber.
The participants also disclosed that farmers have shifted from paddy crop to maize crop because of non- functioning of irrigation Kuls and lift irrigation scheme putting the farmers to loss worth millions of rupees. The participants also projected the problems of frustration among youth due to non filling of the vacancies on different levels for years together and depleted conditions of the road and link roads including Siot-Kalakote road.
