SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir Police would continue its civic action programme with full vigour and zeal, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed/Law & Order K. Rajendra Kumar today said that development of youth by their participation in different activities is the main focus of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Speaking at the inaugural function of “A” Division Super League Youth Development Volleyball Tournament-2012 at Polo Ground here this evening, Rajendra said that youth are a valuable asset of the nation who need a peaceful and congenial atmosphere to nurture their abilities and Jammu and Kashmir Police, besides its professional duties has always remained on forefront to help the youth in refining their talent. He said that JKP has been organizing various activities including cultural and sports activities under its civic action programme to inspire the youth for their active participation in such activities.
Giving details of the tournament, the ADGP said that 18 teams from different parts of the valley are participating in the five day long tournament. The participating teams include Royal Club Aglar, Volleyball Club Chittragam, Government High School Balhama, Government High School Mirgund, Star Club Badro, Shehjar Club Bogund, Chenab Club Zewan, VSS Srinagar, Volleyball Club Babapora, Pamposh Club Badgam, Volleyball Club Chinad, Volleyball Club Ramhal, Nissar Memorial Safapora, Volleyball Club Tregam, Volleyball Club Pattan, Sumbal Volleyball Sports, Government Middle School, Jawalapur and Volleyball Club Kanispora. He said that the teams have been distributed in four pools and in all 39 matches will be played during the tournament. He disclosed that the final match of the tournament will be played on September,03 at Polo Ground.
On the occasion, a league match was pleading between volleyball club, Pattan and VSS, Srinagar which was won by VSS, Srinagar by 20 points.
Among others the function was attended by IGPs, Arun Kumar, Rouf-ul-Hussan and Dr. K. K. Saini, DIGPs, P. Namgyal and Abdul Hamid, SSP Srinagar, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, senior retired police officers, President JKFA, Zameer Thakur, General Secretary, JKFA, S. A. Hamid, Treasurer JKFA, Fayaz Ahmed Sofi, Secretary J&K Bank Sports Board, Abdul Hamid Khan, Commandants, Armed and IRP Battalions and other police officers.
