SRINAGAR, Dec 22: The Winter Games Association of Uttrakhand is holding two major Alpine Ski events at Auli from January 15 to January 21, 2017 next year.
Besides National Alpine Ski Championship for men and women, the WGAUK is holding the International Ski Federation (FIS) races simultaneously.
Among others, the Winter Games Association of J&K is also fielding its 32 member contingent. The selection of the team was made during last State Winter Games held in April 2017 at Kongdori which was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. Mohammad Abbas Wani, President WGAJK and MLA Gulmarg informed that the Association plans to hold a weeklong coaching camp for the selected teams from January 1, 2018.
General Secretary WGAJK Muhammad Yusuf informed that the Screening of the teams will be conducted by Screening Committee of J&K State Sports Council under the supervision of Joint Secretary, Kashmir JKSSC and Sports Officer Kashmir Division on December 26, 2017 at 12 noon. All the selected skiers, whose list has been posted on WGAJK facebook page, have been advised to attend the screening positively at Bakshi Stadium on the said date and time. Those who fail to attend may not be considered.
