SAMBA, Apr 9: The standing wheat crop over 65 kanals of land was destroyed due to devastating fire in village Khanpur camp in Ramgarh area of Samba district today.
The farmers who saw the devastation of their crop could not do any thing and were watching helplessly.
They came to know that when their fields were completely engulfed by fire. They called the fire brigade and by the time the fire brigade reached 65 kanals of the crop had been destroyed. The fire brigade team saved the rest of the crop from the devastation of the fire in the adjoining fields.
The local farmers whose crops were destroyed included Kewal Krishan , Minder Singh and Kuldeep Kumar. They said that all their hard work has gone in vain. They appealed the Government that they should be paid proper compensation for the loss so that they can keep their body and soul together.
