*‘Changing selectors will not be healthy move’

JAMMU, Dec 27: Admini-strators of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), appointed by the High Court namely CK Prasad, retired Justice Supreme Court and Rafat Alam, retired Chief Justice Allahabad High Court along with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ashiq Bukhari held series of meetings with working committee members of JKCA at its Office at Bhatindi, here today.
While interacting with the members of fractured and jaundiced Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, the Administrators assured to clear the mess in JKCA at an earliest.
Justice Prasad said that they will leave no stone unturned in clearing the mess in accordance with the mandate they have as per the High Court orders.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Double Bench of Srinagar High Court has appointed the duo of Mr Prasad and Mr Alam as Administrators to set the things right in JKCA by holding fair elections, besides running the affairs of JKCA till the elections are held.
Almost all the factions of JKCA met the Administrators and presented their views. The Adminis-trators after hearing them patiently assur-ed them of making a healthy committee of genuine and undisputed members to run the affairs of the Association till the elections are held.
They said that they will make a 4-member committee to assist the CEO for smooth and successful functioning of the Association, with two members from each region, adding that all the decisions will be made as per the Lodha Committee recommendations.
To a question as to why those selectors, who are not eligible as per the Lodha reforms are not changed, the Administrators said that the change in selection committees will not be a healthy move at this juncture as more than the half of the season is over.
Justice Prasad said that the scammers and controversial members will find no place in JKCA as they will prove as a stumbling block in smooth and successful functioning of the Association.
To a question as to how the disputed of the clubs will be cleared, the Administrators said that they have no mandate for dealing with them as the Court has appointed an Ombudsman, retired Justice Bashir-ud-Din for this job.
“We have the mandate to hold free and fair elections in JKCA, besides running its affairs in a reasonable manner. We will have no role to play in clearing the disputed clubs as it will be the Ombudsman to do the job,” the Administrators said.
Replying to a question of the members of some disputed clubs that their clubs have been cleared by the Ombudsman, Mr Ansari, Chief Justice Patna High Court, who was already assigned the job by the JKCA, the Administrators said that the Committee who had authorized him the job has been challenged by the Court, adding that talking about his judgment would simply be like flogging a dead horse.
The Administrators however said that they are here to streamline the system and would leave only after setting the things right in JKCA.
