Wind storm hits Kishtwar, Doda; power snapped

JAMMU, June 8: The tin roofs of many houses were damaged and trees uprooted in Kishtwar and Bhaderwah towns besides other areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts late this evening.
Reports said that a strong wind-storm followed by thunder shower hit Kishtwar and Bhaderwah town after 7 pm. The tin sheets of many roofs were uprooted and property of many people damaged in rain. The rain water entered many houses and shops as well causing damage.
A senior official said that similar reports have been received from Bhaderwah town and other parts of district Doda. He said due to rain the Doda-Kishtwar road near Drabshalla sliding zone has also been blocked. The mud and slush has created blockade there. The power supply to these areas has also been snapped due to breaking of polls and cables. No loss of life has been reported from any part of these twin districts so far, he added.
