SRINAGAR, Jan 25: The Winter Games Association of Himachal Pradesh is hosting the Alpine Ski (Senior Men and Women) and Snowboarding (Junior and Senior) Championships at Manali from February 2 to February 6, 2017.
The Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir will also field its contingents in these mega sporting events. The team will leave for Manali on January 30, 2017.
In order to select the state contingent for participation in the said Championships, the Winter Games Association of J&K is holding selection trials on January 28 and 29, 2017 at Gulmarg.
The first 3 position winners of the recently held District Championships will have direct entry in the final rounds of trials, while the open elimination rounds for other interested athletes will be held on January 28. The Junior II and I categories athletes born 1996-1998 and 1999-2000 boys and girls are also eligible to participate in the trials and in senior nationals.
The athletes will have to arrange their own skis and bear all expenses during the trials.
The Association has advised the athletes to report at 85 slope (ski shop) on the said date at 10 am positively. Those who fail to attend the trials will not be considered. Meanwhile, a senior budding skier of the State Arif Khan has left for Pakistan to take part in Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS) races.
