SRINAGAR, Dec 29: The much-awaited winter sports season officially began at the world-famous ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir. The inauguration ceremony was led by Tariq Hussain, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), who marked the commencement of an exciting time for winter sports enthusiasts and tourists. This event is highly anticipated each year, and it has arrived just in time for the New Year celebrations.
Gulmarg, along with other areas in Kashmir, recently experienced heavy snowfall, which has created the perfect conditions for skiing and other winter activities. The heavy snow has delighted both visitors and sports lovers, making Gulmarg a popular destination for people seeking adventure and scenic beauty during the holiday season. The resort has already begun to attract a large number of tourists from across India, as well as international visitors, looking to experience the thrills of skiing on Gulmarg’s pristine slopes.
During the inaugural event, CEO Tariq Hussain was joined by officials from various departments, including the JK Cable Car Corporation, the Tourism Department, and the Municipal Committee. Together, they conducted a comprehensive tour of Gulmarg, Gondola, and Kongdoori, ensuring that all preparations for the upcoming winter sports events were in place. One of the highlights of the day was the opening of the “Baby Skiing Slop,” which was met with joy by tourists and children eager to try skiing for the first time. With the start of the season, Gulmarg is bustling with visitors, promising an exciting and unforgettable winter holiday experience.
