Woman dies due to lack of medicare facilities at Marwah, people protest

KISHTWAR, Feb 13: A 25-year-old woman today died in CHC Marwah due to non availability of proper medical facilities, following which locals staged protest against the Government for not providing chopper services to the deceased.
The locals of the different villages reached Tehsil head quarter Nawapachi and along with family members of the deceased, started raising slogans against the Government, district administration and the health department.
The angry protesters alleged that there is no proper medicare facilities in this hilly cut off area and people are still suffering here for the basic essential facilities specially Medicare facility. They said that the SDM and Tehsildar of the area were also not present in the area and people are
suffering here for want of basic needs.
Raising slogans against the district administration, family members of the deceased woman namely Shamima Begum, wife of Shoket Ahmed, resident of Matigavran (Anantnag) alleged that they shifted the patient to CHC Nawapachi on Sunday when she was not feeling well.
They said that doctors advised them to shift her to Jammu but despite many messages and phone calls to the district administration, chopper was not provided to them up to 11 am today
for shifting the patient in Jammu hospital, which resulted into her death.
Family members said that she came here Marwah from Matigavran to meet his father and mother and after the snow fall she could not go back to her home at Matigavran due to blockade of road from last two months, and in the meantime she fell ill and died today.
