JAMMU, Sept 10: An elderly woman today died of drowning in Ranbir Canal in Purkhoo area of city outskirts.
“The dead body of an unknown woman flowing in Ranbir Canal was spotted this morning by some locals in Purkhoo area of city outskirts”, a police spokesman said, adding the locals informed the police, who reached the spot and evicted the body from the canal and shifted it to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification.
He said that the deceased woman was later identified as Nirmal Devi (75) wife of Madan Lal, resident of Purkhoo Camp. “A case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and inquest proceedings initiated under 174 CrPC”, the spokesman added.
