SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Independent Legislator, Engineer Rashid was today reprimanded by the Speaker of Legislative Assembly for using unparliamentarily language against a woman legislator in the House.
MLA Bimla Luthra protested against Rashid saying that he used unparliamentry words against her and sought an apology. “He cannot call me deaf!” she said.
Speaker Mubarak Gul told Sheikh Abdul Rashid, MLA from Langate: “I condemn words you have used for the Member. You should watch your words.”
Rashid, while raising his point on land grabbing allegations against some PDP leaders, said the Government should take steps to clear vast stretches of State land occupied by migrant labourers from other States.
“Tomorrow, we might be facing a situation where some people may seek to rehabilitate these labourers in the State as permanent citizens,” Rashid said.
Luthra, who was sitting close to Rashid, said something to which the MLA from Langate replied: “You can neither see it nor hear it”.
