JAMMU, June 4: An old woman injured in as assault case succumbed today to her injuries.
According to a police official, a 67-year-old woman namely Kanta Devi wife of late Shadi Lal, resident of Udhampur, who was presently living with his son near Sainik School, Nagrota, was attacked on her head with a bat by her son on June 1 after which she was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
He said the woman succumbed to her head injuries today at about 10: 20 AM. “After postmortem, the body was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered under relevant sections of Law in police station Nagrota.
The official said, meanwhile, a man identified as Makeet Singh son of Daleep Singh, resident of Panjgrain (Nagrota) allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his residence. “He was rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he passed away at 11:20 AM,” the official added.
He said that after performing all medico legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family members for last rites while inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC was initiated in this connection at police station Nagrota.
