NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today urged women to recognise their inherent strength and true potential to make a purposive contribution in the process of the nation building. Speaking at a cultural event organised by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on the eve of the International Women’s Day here, Ms Mahajan said women should identify themselves on the basis of their abilities and merit and introspect as to how they can contribute to the society at large.
The Speaker also greeted women in India and abroad on the occasion of International Women’s Day. During the event, several cultural programmes were presented by women employees of Lok Sabha Secretariat and allied agencies to commemorate the day.
Ms Mahajan also conferred meritorious awards on the wards of the officers and staff of the Secretariat. (AGENCIES)
