Workshop on Advance Imaging concludes at SMVDU

KATRA, May 27: Two days advance workshop on “Modern Development and Applications in imaging techniques “was held in SMVDU, which concluded today in the School of Biotechnology, SMVDU, here.
Dr Rakesh Kumar and Dr Swarkar Sharma, from School of Biotechnology, SMVDU in association with M/S Leica Microsystems organized the workshop.
The focus of the workshop was to give hands-on training to the students and faculty on the latest technology in the field of Imaging.
Special microscope (DMi8) was shipped to SMVDU from Mumbai for the training purpose.
Fifty delegates participated in the workshop, which included faculty from Schools of Biotechnology, Physics, Economics, SMVDU and scholars from School of Biotechnology. Faculty from Department of Pathology, Government Medical College Jammu Dr Jyotsna Suri and DrSindhu Sharma also participated in the workshop.
The workshop started with detailed lectures by Bhaskar B N Shetty, National Product Manager, Widefield microscopy and Madhukar Chaudhari, National Product and Application Manager CLSM from Leica regarding the basics of microscopy to advance Imaging techniques like Laser micro-dissection and confocal microscopy along with super resolution imaging.
They also provided hands-on training on DMi8 and DM-3000 microscopes. The organizer of the workshop, Dr Rakesh Kumar thanked Vipul Raturi and Rajiv Rastogi from Leica for all their support and help in organizing the workshop.
The organizers also thanked Sonali Verma, Ruchi Shah and Ghulam Rasool Bhat, scholars of the SBT for their help in smooth running of workshop.
The Director in-charge, School of Biotechnology Dr Sharada M. Potukuchi congratulated the organizers conducting the event.
