JAMMU, Oct 11: Government Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu, in collaboration with Department of Life- Long Learning today organised a 5-day work shop on Broadcasting Skills that will continue till October 16, 2012. The objective of organising the workshop is to make students familiar with broadcasting skills.
Joint Director of Information, Soujanya Sharma, Principal of the College, Dr. Satinder Singh, Former Principal and eminent Radio Broadcaster Prof. Rita Jitendra , Programme Head Radio Kashmir Jammu, Ravi Magotra, Assistant Director Department of Life Learning, Kavita Suri, Transmission Executive Radio Kashmir Jammu, Amit Sharma were the resource persons on the occasion.
The resource persons highlighted the importance of acquiring skills for the job market. They encouraged the students to participate in such kind of workshops where they can enhance their skills of communication, besides know how to meet challenges of life.
The participants were told about the news trends, script writing, translation and other techniques used in the broadcasting.
Describing radio as most popular and effective mode of communication, Joint Director of Information, Jammu Soujanya Sharma motivated the participants to take part in such skill enhancing activities to improve their communication skills. He gave valuable inputs about how to make command on pronunciation which enable them to be a good announcer. He said that a good announcer/news reader should have sense of belonging, good command over language, besides a sense of discipline and confidence.
Underlining the need for putting in extra efforts and dedication to make one outstanding in the field, Prof. Rita Jatinder said that one has to be concise, precise and stick to the point with focus on speech to become successful broadcaster.
She urged upon the participants to come for audition so that they can get jobs in this exciting field.
Dr. Kavita Suri, Assistant Director, Department of Life Long Learning and Dr. Bharti Prabhakar, project Officer from Department of life learning and Principal, Dr. Satinder Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the basic requirements for becoming a broadcaster.
