JAMMU, Dec 23:  A three-day Advanced Workshop on Cybersecurity by Prof. Vijay Kumar, Curator’s Professor, University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), USA concluded at MIET. Prof. R.D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest during the valedictory function and presented certificates to over 35 participants from various institutions across J&K including SMVDU, Central University, Jammu, BGSBU, Rajouri and MIET.
The workshop was organized under the auspices of the Memorandum-of-Understanding signed between UMKC and MIET which includes joint research and development. It covered in-depth technical discussion on topics such as authentication, access control, threats and attacks, information/data integrity. Four research-oriented projects were also assigned to the participants during the rigorous schedule of the workshop.
On the occasion, Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairma, MIER Group, formally welcomed Prof. R.D Sharma describing him as a committed teacher, researcher and administrator par excellence. He expressed confidence that Prof. Sharma as Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu shall help in creating new benchmarks of performance and excellence. He assured the Vice Chancellor that MIET will continue to excel in all spheres and provide educational leadership in the private sector in the State. He also described the 3-day workshop by Prof. Vijay Kumar as an excellent initiative to develop capacity and capability in research in cutting-edge domains such as cybersecurity.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET presented an overview of the workshop and the key learnings for the participants.
Prof. Vijay Kumar expressed pleasure at the enthusiastic response of the workshop participants and encouraged them to embrace research which he described as a challenging yet immensely rewarding journey.
In his address Prof. R.D Sharma congratulated MIET for organizing an international level workshop on such a timely and relevant theme. He exhorted on the faculty and students to develop curiosity and aim for academic excellence. Mementos were presented to the Vice Chancellor and Prof. Vijay Kumar in appreciation for their support and encouragement.
Maj. Gen (Retd.) Prof. S.K Sharma presented the formal vote of thanks and apprised the audience that some students from MIET shall pursue their MS programme at UMKC, USA from 2016 under the MoU between MIET and UMKC.
