Workshop on Music, Vedic Maths conducted

JAMMU, June 16: Jointly organized by NGOs Sharda Sangeet Sadan and Tejpunj, the third chapter of Sanskriti, a 15-day free workshop for children concluded, here today.
The workshop was another chapter in the endeavour to bring young students of the region in touch with the cultural heritage in the field of music and vedic maths. The main focus of the workshop was to develop aptitude for competition and personality development. The workshop focused Pranayaam for better concentration, sessions for pronunciation and understanding of Vedic hymns. Music classes and mental math sessions were also held during the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion the chief organizer said that modern societal pressures hamper overall development of children as they are caught into a web of school and home work from tender age, adding that their programmes were designed to free their shackles and relieve them from pressure to learn with fun.
Meanwhile, giving their views on the workshop one of the parents said that the practice of Shlokas was a great value as they were really a learning to be had in modern times. Another parent said that he was amazed to observe that Vedic Maths was based on traditional practices of yoga.
