JAMMU, June 14: World Blood Donor Day was celebrated on the theme “Give Blood and keep the World beating”.
Literary Club in collaboration with EBSB Club and Red Cross Club of the college organized online lecture to celebrate World’s Blood Donor Day in commemoration to Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Give Blood and keep the World Beating” for the occasion to highlight the extraordinary service rendered by the blood donor’s world over. The programme started with a detailed online lecture by Prof Marve Sofi Convener Literary club, wherein she talked at length about the history of celebrating this event. Prof Anayat Ullah Khan Convener, EBSB Club and Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GDC Kalakote also expressed their views related to the day. At last, Dr Shezad Ahmed, Convener Red Cross Club presented the vote of thanks.
NSS unit of Govt College of Education (GCOE) Jammu under the patronage of Cluster University of Jammu organized an online Intra-College Painting Competition celebrating World Blood Donor Day to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The programme was ably conducted by Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Programme Officer along with NSS volunteers. The theme for the programme was “Give blood and keep the world beating” to emphasize on the importance of blood donation.
Dr Kulvinder Kour (Principal of GCOE) applauded the efforts of the NSS unit and stressed that by donating blood we can save someone’s life. She stated that blood donation stimulates blood cells production and it helps us to complete our social responsibilities.
Dr Shushma Bala, Prof Shalini Rana and Prof Shapia Shameem were the judges of this event. Winners will be declared on college website by June 18.
Red Ribbon Club of GDC Akhnoor celebrated World Blood Donor Day on the theme “Give Blood and Keep the World Beating” under the supervision of Principal of the college Dr Namrata. One the theme, one day college level competition, one minute promotional video on the role of blood donors, poster making on blood donation and youth campaign were organized using digital tools. Kanchan Sharma of BSc Sem-III got 1st place, Preeti Sharma of Sem IV and Bandhana Sharma of Sem III of GDC Akhnoor secured second and third positions respectively. All the participants were given e-certificate. The faculty members who contributed in this event were Prof Dewarka Nath Convener RRC, Prof Sukriti Sharma, Prof Yogesh Sharma, Prof Piyush Kant, Prof Surinder Sharma and Prof Surita Sharma.
Indian Red Cross Society, UT Headquarters of Jammu & Kashmir organised a blood donation camp on the eve of World Blood Donor Day at Red Cross House, Exchange Road, Srinagar with the theme for the year “Donate Blood and Keep the World Beating”. The camp was inaugurated by Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, General Secretary, IRCS-J&K in presence of MS Rather, Former General Secretary, IRCS-J&K, GA Qureshi, Honorary Treasurer, IRCS-J&K, MY Zargar, Honorary Secretary, IRCS-Regional Branch, Kashmir and prominent members and volunteers of Red Cross. The drive saw close to 40 voluntary blood donors, office bearer of IRCS-J&K and staff members coming together to donate blood for a noble cause. Similar camps were organised at IRCS, Regional Branch Jammu and District Branches of IRCS at Pulwama, Shopian, Kupwara, Kishtwar and Kathua. Total of 153 points of blood have been collected in these camps.
Sant Nirankari Mission Branch Jammu organized a voluntarily blood donation camp on the eve of World Blood Donors Day at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Shastri Nagar, Jammu. Volunteers participated in this camp to spread the message of Baba Hardev Singh that “blood should flow in veins and not in drains”. 55 donors donated blood on the occasion. Vinod Malhotra Honorary Secretary Indian Red Cross Society Jammu Region, Dr Meena Sidhu Prof and Head, Dr Anshu from Blood Bank GMC Jammu, BR Lachotra Retd Director General Planning, Gian Chand Khetrya Sanchalak and several social workers of the society were present on the occasion. The camp was held in collaboration with Blood and Transfusion Department of Government Medical College Jammu, Indian Red Cross Society and JKSACS.
7th Battalion SSB Khaleni in collaboration with District Red Cross Society (DRCS) Doda organized blood donation camp at AH GMC Doda. More than 20 soldiers and officials from SSB donated the blood during the camp.
To commemorate the World Blood Day at district headquarter Kishtwar, District Red Cross Society, Kishtwar in collaboration with the Health Department Kishtwar under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma organized blood donation camp at District Hospital Kishtwar. In the camp 22 volunteer participated, out of which 13 donated blood, whereas 9 volunteers will be reserved for emergency purpose. Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr Parvaiz Iqbal Wani, Secretary Red Cross Asgar Sheikh, Doctors, volunteers from red cross and locals attended the camp.
On the eve of the World Blood Donor Day, District Red Cross Society (DRCS) Kathua, in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Department, Government Medical College Kathua, organized a blood donation camp which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav who is also the Chairman of DIRCS, Kathua.
SSP Kathua RC Kotwal, Principal GMC Kathua Anjali Nadir Bhat, Medical Superintendent, Dr Chitra Vaishnavi and ACR Kathua, Sandeep Seonitra were also present on this occasion.
Over 50 units of blood were donated during this camp in which volunteers from different age groups participated.
One day blood donation camp was organized at STC BSF Rown Domail by District Red Cross Society in collaboration with District Hospital and STC BSF to celebrate “World Blood Donor day”. Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, who is also the Chairperson of District Red Cross Society, was the chief guest and formally inaugurated the camp in presence of Pardeep Katyal, IG BSF, STC. During the Camp, as many as 42 troops, including 12 women personnel of BWWA STC participated in the camp and donated the blood.
Meanwhile, members of BWWA under the guidance of Renu Katyal, President BWWA STC also participated in this blood donation camp.
Among others, Chief Medical Officer, Dr KC Dogra, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr Vijay Raina, Secretary District Red Cross Society, Dr VP Sharma, officers and jawans of BSF besides officials of Blood Bank District Hospital were present on the occasion.
