jammu, Feb 9: J&K Indian Style Wrestling team participated in the 48th Senior National Indian Style Wrestling Championship and Hind-Kesari title 2014 for men and 4th Senior National Wrestling Championship and Women Hind-Kesari title held at Jamkhandi in Karnataka.
Wrestler Abhishek Sangal of Shiv Puri Akhara Jogi Gate Jammu, a student of Class 12th won bronze medal in 97 kg weight category, beating Ajay Mandve of Maharasthra by fall in the first round, while in the second round, Abhishek beat wrestler Sanju of Karnataka by 3 points (7-4). In the semifinal round, Abhishek lost to Kapil of NCR to win bronze medal and a cash prize of Rs 6500.
The team was accompanied by president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association who is also treasurer of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Shiv Kumar Sharma; NIS Wrestling coach, Mulk Raj Sharma; Sanjeev Sharma, team manager and Bansi Lal Tidyal, technical official.
