KATRA, Feb 19: Wrestler Amit of Delhi lifted the “17th Shiv Khori Kesari title 2015” by defeating wrestler Amrit Paul of Amritsar in Punjab in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 41 minutes at Government High School Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori in Ransoo Block of District Reasi.
As a part of famous and historic annual 3 days Shiv Khori Mela, Vishal dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Tourism Department, Ransoo Dangal committee and District Administration, Reasi under the over all supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma.
MLA Reasi, Advocate Ajay Nanda was the chief guest on the event, who gave away the cash prizes to the winners and runner up wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Executive officer Shiv Khori Shrine Board who is Mela Officer, Babu Ram Choudhary Amod Nagpuri and DySP Zakir Shaheen Mirza were the guests of honour. Naib Tehsildar Ransoo Bodh Raj, SHO Ransoo Bhupesh Singh, Sarpanches Kewal Krishan, Paul Chand, Swarn Singh, Bharat Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Jugal Banathia were also present on the occasion.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries presented Rs 9,000 as cash prize to the winner of 1st malli, Amit along with traditional silver gurj (gadda) and patta, while Rs 6,000 was given to runner-up wrestler Amrit Paul by Sarpanch Kewal Krishan, Sarpanch Paul Chand and Sarpanch Swarn Singh.
In all 33 bouts were played in the Vishal Dangal.
