Wrestler Sikander lifts ‘Bhatyari-Korga Kesari’ title

KATRA, June 29: Wrestler, Sikander Sheikh of Maharashtra has defeated wrestler Monu Dahia of Delhi and lifted ‘101st International Bhatyari-Korga Kesari Dangal’ title here today.
The wrestler Sikander Sheikh was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,31,000 along with traditional ‘Gurj (Gadda) and Patta’ by President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma, while runner-up wrestler Monu Dahia got Rs 80,000. The Dangal was organized by Rural Development Forum in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Ashok Sawhney (President), Sat Paul Verma, Ram Paul Sharma, Lochan Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Contractor Bablu, Som Dutt Sharma and Sahil Sharma.
There were 70 renowned wrestlers of India and from Iran participating in historic Dangal which was witnessed by a large gathering of around 20,000 people of Jammu province and northern States.
Senior vice president Indian Style Wrestling Association of India and president Kreeda Bhartia Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who witnessed the whole event and encouraged the youths who participated. Thirty Five wrestling bouts were played in the event in which an amount of Rs 7, 50,000 was distributed in the shape of cash prizes among the winner and runner-up wrestlers by chief guest Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Kisan Morcha BJP J&K UT Prabari and senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma, BDC Chairman Rehmat Ali, BMO Dansal Dr. Manzoor Ahmed and ex president Yuva Rajput Sabha, Rajana Singh (Happy) were guests of honour. Prominent persons who were present on the occasion included Ram Paul Sharma, prominent social activist and wrestling promoter, Sahil Sharma, Lochan Singh, Om Parkash Verma, Rumal Singh (Sarpanch), Balbir (Sarpanch), Anil Sharma (Sarpanch), Rajesh Sharma (Sarpanch) and Sub Inspector Sanjeev Sharma. Second malli main bout was won by wrestler Hamid of Iran who defeated wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police. Winner wrestler Hamid was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 61,000, while runner-up wrestler Benia Min got Rs 40,000. The 3rd bout was won by Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) who defeated Chhota Khali of Chikka (Haryana). Winner Lallu was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 40,000, while runner-up Chhota Khali got Rs. 30,000. 4th bout was won by Nissar of Doda who defeated wrestler Taj of Punjab. Winner Nisar was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 while runner-up Taj got Rs. 20,000.
In other results, Yudhvir of Delhi beat Gamma of Punjab, Nadeem of Doda beat Titi of Chikka (Haryana), Gulshan of Sohanjana beat Robbin of Mulapur (Chandigarh) and Amana of Punjab beat Muneer Khan of Nagrota.
