It was Yash chopra’s belief in me that helped me succeed as romantic hero: Shahrukh

NEW DELHI: Admitting that he never wanted to be a ‘lover boy’ as he did not feel he looked like a ‘romantic hero’, superstar Shahrukh Khan has said that it is the late Yash chopra’s belief in him that is responsible for his success in the romantic genre.
”I never wanted to be a lover boy. I did not think I am good looking enough. I didn`t think that I was pretty enough to play romance and stuff, but he (Yash chopra) kept on telling me always that until I don`t do love stories my career won`t progress and when Yash Chopra tells you that then there must be some sense to it,” Shahrukh said after receiving the prestigious fourth Yash Chopra Memorial Award last evening.
Shahrukh khan said he simply by went by Yash Chopra’s belief and it paid him rich dividends. “If I don`t look like a romantic hero and don`t act like one, I have to just go by his belief and I did, and it paid dividends. It really has created my career. Yash Chopra has single-handedly created my career,” the superstar said.
The success of Yashraj films’ ‘Dilwale dulhaniyan me zayenge’, where he played a ‘lover boy’ catapulted Shahrukh in the big league and helped him establish a niche for himself in Bollywood as a romantic hero. (AGENCIES)
