Poonch, Sept 22: General secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yash Pal Sharma, MLC today asked the state and central governments to expedite the relief and rescue operations flood ravaged areas of Mendhar.
Addressing series of public meetings after visiting flood affected areas of Mendhar namely Jadan Wali Gali, Kaller, Bhata, Dhudiyan Naad, Sanjyoti, Keri, Galuta, Dhaar, Kaloon, Sakhi, Madaan, Bhati Dhar, Mankote, Salani, Dhurti and Gani, Mr Sharma expressed his concern over large scale destruction caused by the floods and rains in these regions.
He said that there has been a widespread devastation of public infrastructure like roads, bridges, power distribution systems, hospitals, schools, etc and private properties including houses and fields. He said that there was a need to intensify the ongoing relief operations in Mendhar and adjoining localities. He regretted that relief operations in this region were going on snail’s pace and most of the affected families were yet to get any compensation or relief.
