JAMMU, Jan 28: YCC Bhaderwah and Evershine XI registered emphatic wins and entered in the semifinals of the ongoing 4th Eid-Diwali-Christmas T20 Cricket Cup for students and youths of the state, being played at Parade Ground, here.
The tournament in which 24 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Simula Sports Club, Atman Sports Club and Christian Sports Organization.The Organizing Committee includes Hilal Rather, Sanjay Mahajan, Rajesh Gill, David Mattoo, Asif Gill, Rajesh Dhar, RP Singh, Sunil Sambyal and Sunny Gill.
Earlier, batting first, Janipur Cricket XI scored 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Mukul top scored with 60 runs and Ishan also made 31 runs. Khalid took 2 wickets and Sheroz and Irshad shared 1 wicket each for YCC.
YCC, in reply achieved the target in 19.2 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Jaspreet and Abir Khan were the main scorers with 48 and 33 runs respectively. Deepak and Wahid took 2 wickets each, while Mohit, Ragu and JD shared 1 wicket each for their team. Jaspreet was declared as the man of the match.
In another quarterfinal match, Evershine Club defeated Christian Sports XI by 37 runs.
Batting first, Evershine Club scored 170 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Ashu and Narinder were the main scorers who made 59 and 45 runs to the total. Nitu and Anchal took 3 wickets each, while Sunny took 2 wickets. Rakesh and Amir shared 1 wicket for Christian Sports XI.
In reply, Christian Sports could achieved the target and made 133 runs for the loss of all wickets.Danny and Sunny were the main scorers who made 28 and 27 runs for Christian Sports.Ashu took 4 wickets, Pranav and hardeep took 2 wickets each, while Narinder and Bansi Lal shared 1 wicket. Evershine Club won the match by 37 runs. Ashu declared Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Madan, Sandeep Manchanda, Vinod, Sunil Sambyal, Sanju and Danny.
Jammu Police XI will take on Khalsa Cricket Club at 10.30 am in the 3RD quarterfinal, while KC Sports Club will face Jammu Stars XI at 1.30 pm.
