RAJOURI, July 3: Army took up a project to provide books and internet facility for women at Youth Empowerment and Guidance Node (YEGN), Thanamandi in Rajouri district.
The project was inaugurated by Aaliya Maqbool Raina, Vice Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Thanamandi. On the occasion, she said that women should utilize this facility for their growth and to enhance their awareness. She further added that all those who do not have access to costly Personal Computer and that of a broadband at home could avail this facility of free internet and use it for information sharing, learning, social networking, video conferencing, etc with a little bit of support and guidance from the Army.
The library of the Youth Empowerment Guidance Node, Thanamandi also got new additions of the latest books covering a variety of subjects. The books were purchased in consultation with the local teachers, Principal and in consonance with the demands of the students of Thanamandi.
One of the serving officer of Army and a local of Thanamandi, gave a motivational talk and also shared some of their experiences. He brought out how such facilities were lacking in the days when they were growing up and how they had to struggle to gain knowledge that helped them join the Army as an officer. He hoped that the internet and library would be exploited to the optimum by everyone in and around Thanamandi.
