JAMMU, Dec 15: The 9th State Yoga Championship was declared open by S Rangil Singh President, J&K Olympic Association at Handa College of Education, Sainik Colony, here today.
Around 100 students drawn from Udhampur, Katra, Rajouri, Jammu and Kargil participated in the event. The ability and the flexibility shown by the contestants was watched in awe by all present.
Srinagar Boys and Girls could not take part in the competition as they were stranded due to road blockade because of heavy snowfall.
Shehnawaz Chowdhary, president J&K Youth Congress, Satish Sharma, president J&K Lok Sabha Youth Congress and Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director Academic Staff College, University of Jammu were the guests of honour on the occasion. Prominent among others present were Prof Ashutosh Sharma, Veena Handa, Chairperson Handa College of Education and Tiny Tots Group of Hr Sec Schools, Dr Vikram Handa and president of J&K Yoga Association Deepak Handa.
The championship was supervised by Dayal Ram, Anil Gupta, Ajay Bharti Sharma under the supervision of Surinder Pathak, general secretary J&K Yoga Association and Yoga coach.
