UDHAMPUR, July 22: Panic gripped Tehsil Mongri of District Udhampur after bear attacked a young couple at village Jassar kot, here today.
The victim, identified as Parshotam Singh (32) son of Channi Lal of Jassar Kot and his 30 year old wife Babli Devi, were attacked by the bear when they were working in their farm. Some villagers rescued them from the bear that badly injured the couple.
The injured were rushed to PHC Mongri and their condition was stated to be stable.
Later, the local also reported the matter to police and Wildlife Department officials’ as they were worried about their cattle and live stock. They appealed the Wildlife Conservation Department officials and district administration to either capture or the bear or take appropriate action for evicting the wild animal to forest area.
