MENDHAR, July 12: A young girl hailing from border area of Sagra Balnoi at Mendhar in Poonch district was today drowned in a river in her village on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Mehnaz Bi, 20, daughter of Mohammad Rafiq, resident of Sagra village of Mankote in Mendhar Sub Division.
Locals informed that the girl was crossing a river in the village when she was drowned and later on her body was fished out.
SDPO Mendhar, Sheezan Bhatt and SHO, Sajad Banaya reached the spot along with cops and shifted the body to Sub District Hospital Mendhar for post mortem after which it was handed over to the family members for last rites.
