JAMMU, Jan 6: Outplaying the equally strong side of Sittu Club in a close contest by four goals to three (4-3) in the summit Clash, Young Star Hockey Club, Simbal Camp lifted the title trophy of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub Junior Hockey Tournament, organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation, which concluded at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
IGP Jammu, Rajesh Kumar was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Padmashree  SP Verma, president Gandhi Global Family and State Chairman Youth Hostel Association of India was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu assured all possible help to organizers in promoting hockey in Jammu and Kashmir and said that sports apart from helping players to be healthy, inculcate discipline and team spirit among them.
Dr Taran Singh in his welcome address gave brief report of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Young Star made early inroads by scoring goals in 2nd and 11th minutes of the match, through Tanminder Singh and Ramanjot Singh, while Shivam Sharma and Gurdeep Singh scored other two goals for Young Star in 29th and 55th minutes. For Sittu Club, Ramandeep Singh scored 2 goals in 30th and 45th minutes, while Harminder Pal netted the third one in 50th minute of the match. Ramandeep Singh Senior of Sittu Club was adjudged man of the tournament, while Randeep Singh of Young Star was declared man of the match. The Fair Play Award trophy went to Hiranagar Cricket Club, while upcoming player of the tournament award was given to Imtiyaz Hussain, Goalkeeper of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, JS Reen, Amarjeet Singh, Dalvinder Singh, Joginder Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Manjeet Singh and Tournament Director GS Bakshi.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajesh Gupta, Dr Taran Singh, Romal Singh, Jagjeet Kour, Harcharan Singh, Amardeep Singh, Avtar Singh, Trilok Singh and Devinder Bakshi.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dineshwar Singh Jamwal.
