DODA, Oct 19: Defeating Sports Cricket Club (SCC), Bhalessa, in a thrilling contest by 3 runs via super over, Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda clinched the title trophy of the CRPF-Public Friendly T-20 Cricket Tournament, which concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
The tournament was organised by 76 Bn CRPF in collaboration with Young Star Cricket Club Doda.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting, Sports Cricket Club (SCC) Bhalessa scored a low total of 98 runs in 17.3 overs.
Mubashir and Firdous Khandey were the major contributors, who scored 25 and 17 runs for the team. For YSCC Doda, Waseem took 3 wickets, while Sohan Singh, Asif Ali Dev and Waseem Raja shared 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, YSCC Doda too scored 98 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and the match ended in a tie. Yasir Dar was the highest scorer from YSCC, who scored 17 runs for the team, while Manzoor Batt, Waseem and Riaz contributed 16, 12 and 12 runs respectively.
From SCC Bhalessa, Arif Rather and Firdous Khandey shared 2 wickets each.
In the super over, batting first, YSCC Doda scored 5 runs in the allotted 1 over, while in reply, SCC Bhalessa failed to chase and scored just 2 runs, thus lost the match by 3 runs.
Waseem of Young Star Cricket Club Doda was adjudged man of the match and best batsman of the tournament, while Firdous Khandey of Sports Cricket Club, Bhalessa was declared as man of the series for his all-round performance.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan was the chief guest while ADDC Doda Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Commandant 76 Bn CRPF Taranjit Singh, Deputy Commandant 76 Bn CRPF Sukhvir Singh, Medical Superintendent DH Doda Dr. Farid Ahmed Bhat, Lt Col Navin Bindre of 10 RR, Medical Officer 76 Bn CRPF Dr Supinder Singh and Manager YSCC Doda Mehboob Kraipak were the special guests on the occasion.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners and runners up teams on the occasion.
