Youngsters show promise as star-studded Stadium XI drubs RCC Srinagar by 43 runs

JAMMU, Apr 9: Young brigade of Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar showed composure, promise, skill and class by restricting star-studded Stadium XI to 161/8 on a batting friendly strip and scoring 118/4 in reply to lose the match by 43 runs in the ongoing Jammu T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Police, under Civic Action Programme at Bana Singh Stadium, RS Pura, here.

Earlier, put into bat, Stadium XI possessing around eight current and former Ranji Trophy players scored 161 runs in the stipulated 18 overs. Pranav Gupta played a magnificent innings of 53 runs including 6 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Bandeep Singh contributed 38 runs with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. Samad also contributed 27 runs off 19 balls, studded with 4 fours and one six and Gokul Baru chipped in with unbeaten 16 runs. For RCC Srinagar, Abhinav Khajuria, Abhay Tandon and Anmol took 2 wickets each, while Harman claimed one wicket.

In reply, RCC Srinagar rode on a splendid half-century by promising batsman Dikshant Kundal and managed to score 118 runs in the allotted 18 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 43 runs. Dikshant made unbeaten 56 runs, studded with 7 crispy boundaries and one big six. He played all the shots with fluidity and grace, while Rishab also contributed 32 runs to the total including 4 fours. Sachin Sharma and Harman also chipped in with 10 runs each.

For Stadium XI, Riynsh took 2 wickets, while Pranav Mahajan and Vijay Dogra claimed one wicket each.

Young Dikshant was adjudged as the man of the match for his unbeaten half-century.

The organizers apart from enhancing police-public relation are keen to promote budding cricketers as they preferred young Dikshant from losing side over talented Pranav from the winning team for the man of the match award.

Earlier, on the other day, in RCC’s first outing against Press Club RS Pura, Praful Dhar was adjudged as the man of the match for his 6-wicket haul.
