SRINAGAR : A meeting of the Committee on Environment of the Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of legislator, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat on the behalf of MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami.
Legislators, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, Devinder Kumar Manyal, Daleep Singh Parihar, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Anjum Fazili were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on management, disposal of Bio-Medical wastes, status of pollution controlling devices installed in the Government and Private Hospitals of the State.
The members of the Committee directed the officials of Health Department to adopt the norms issued by the Government, while providing the colour-coded dustbins, needle syringe destroyers, Bio- Medical waste generated and methods suggested by the concerned officers from the Health & Medical Education Department so that their suggestions can be incorporated in the recommendations of the Committee.
They directed the officials of Health Department to provide Pollution Control devises to all the Government hospitals so that proper removal of Bio-medical wastes could be removed from the hospitals. They also directed to ensure proper cleanliness in the Health Institutions of the State.
Earlier, the Committee prayed for speedy recovery of the Chairman of the Committee, MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami who suffered a heart-block yesterday.
Principal Medical College Srinagar, Director Health Services, Srinagar and Jammu, Mission Director, NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, Superintendent, Super-Specialty Hospital, Jammu, Regional Director Kashmir SPCB, besides Secretary Legislative Assembly were present in the meeting.
