‘Youth At Service’ organizes awareness session on Mental Health

JAMMU, Aug 19: ‘Youth At Service’, a community service group of students conducted an awareness session on Mental Health at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar Jammu.
The students of classes 9 to 12 were aware of mental health concepts and ways to cope up with it. Furthermore the feelings of self love and positive attitude were encouraged to be felt and shared and the issue of normalizing mental health was emphasized. The students actively participated and asked questions to the team members.
Team members of Youth At Service, consisting of five volunteers, interacted with the students and encouraged the participants to put their inhibitions aside and share their emotions, issues which they otherwise hesitate to discuss.
The founder president of the group Sumedha Manhas among volunteers were Swaranjili, Faiza, Zoya and Bhavya, all students of class 12 from Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School Jammu were part of the event.
Sumedha Manhas said, “The chronic mental health issues loom larger among students than physical health problems.”
