Srinagar, Mar 5 : Youth who set himself ablaze during a demolition drive in Harran Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district died today after battling for life for over 10 days.
Officials said that the youth was admitted to SKIMS and was being treated for serious injuries he suffered on February 22, however, they said that he lost the battle and breathed his last.
Earlier, the police had stated that the youth had set himself ablaze to protest the demolition drive. He was immediately referred to SKIMS by police where he was treated by a team of doctors.
Also, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir had ordered an inquiry into the matter while a revenue official was shifted to mishandling the situation.
