POONCH, Sept 28: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) in District Poonch organized the Inter-Division UT Level Football Competition for Under-14 and Under-19 Girls at the Sports Stadium, Poonch. The competition is being held under the supervision of Mool Raj Uttam, DYSSO Poonch, with the support of Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs).
In today’s Under-14 category, Kashmir Division triumphed over Jammu Division with a 3-0 scoreline. Zafira Khan was the standout player, scoring two goals, while Mukhta Akbar Lone added one more for Kashmir. The Under-19 match, however, ended in a goalless draw.
The tournament is seen as a prestigious event that offers young footballers a significant platform to display their talents. Additionally, a selection committee appointed by the Youth Services and Sports Department is overseeing the process to identify players for the J&K UT team, which will participate in the 68th National School Games.
Chief guest, Dr. Zulfikar Ahmed, praised the participants for their dedication and stressed the importance of teamwork and perseverance in sports. He encouraged the young athletes to remain focused and to strive for excellence in their future sporting endeavours.
