Yudhvir asks police not to harass youth on selective basis

JAMMU, Feb 27: Criticising district police authorities for harassing youth of Jammu and picking them up on selective basis, State BJP general secretary, Yudhvir Sethi today said that post Pulwama attack, whatever happened here was unfortunate but when Civil Society of Jammu belonging to different sections had resolved to settle issues amicably why the young boys are being harassed by police.
Launching a strong protest here, today, Yudhvir Sethi said no action is being taken against those who raised pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans. He added that those who burst crackers after Pulwama attack are still roaming free. He urged authorities not to harass youth and instead call an inquiry into the fact as to why police didn’t reach the spot in time where vehicles were burnt and many youths resorted to stone pelting.
Yudhvir Sethi said now that everyone representing their community and bazar associations besides prominent citizens have decided to not to allow such elements to disturb the peace. Police must felicitate and get the issue resolved. Instead of harassing youth they must issue warnings and also keep their house in order so that police reaches for the help of people or to restore calm whenever needed, he added.
He said Jammu people belonging to all sections of society are peace loving and won’t let anti-social elements to disturb the peace here at all costs.
