JAMMU, Dec 23: Muhammad Zaid, a promising middle-order batsman for the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), finished the league phase of the U-16 Boys Vijay Merchant Trophy with 5 matches, scoring 477 runs in 10 innings.
Talented Zaid scored four big half-centuries with unbeaten 98* against formidable Karnataka as his top score, apart from scoring 92 and 77 against Rajasthan and 86 against strong Delhi.
Facing 674 balls in the tournament, gritty Zaid averaged 53.00 with a decent strike rate of 70.77, hitting 69 fours and 16 sixes in the tournament.
“JKCA has provided us all the requisite facilities and we are fortunate enough to deliver in the present system. The number of practice matches we played at home, besides the exposure tour, have helped me to score big runs,” said Zaid.
