REASI, May 1: The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament under the age group of 14 and 17 years in the disciplines of kabbadi, Volleyball, Wrestling and Kho-Kho for boys and girls got underway at Pouni, here today.
DySP (Hqr) Reasi, Mohan Sharma declared the tournament open in a simple function.
Earlier, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi, Dr S S Chib welcomed the chief guest and presented detailed report of the tournament.
He said that players drawn from 11 different institutions are participating in this 2-day tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, DySP Mohan Sharma said that sports and games help to channelize the energy of the youth in positive direction and impressed upon the students to take part in the games and sports and also excel in academics.
He asked the teachers to inculcate value of patriotism, nation building and moral values which would help the students to face the challenges of life.
Sharma appreciated the Sports Department for organizing such events which provided the students a platform to perform and excel.
ZEO Pouni, Principal HSS Pouni, Headmasters of various schools, teachers and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
