JAMMU, Mar 23: Zonal level T20 Cricket Cup of Under-19 boys, being organised by Zonal Police Headquarters under Civic Action Programme was inaugurated at KC Sports Club, here today.
A total of eight teams from Jammu province including JSK Strikers, Ravi Tawi Warriors, UR Super Kings, UR Daredevils, Rajouri Sunrisers, Poonch Panthers, Chenab Valley Superstars and Chenab Raiders are taking part in this championship.
The inaugural match was played between JSK Strikers and Chenab Raiders.
Mukesh Singh IGP Jammu was the chief guest, whereas Vivek Gupta DIG Jammu was the guest of honour of the inaugural ceremony.
While speaking on the occasion chief guest said that the J&K Police is committed to work hard for the welfare and bright future of the youth of J&K UT by providing lots of opportunities in the field of sports, so that they can get benefit and may play at the highest level in cricket like IPL.
The IGP Jammu also lauded the efforts of the players for displaying great performance with bat and ball in the Range level matches and got selected for this Zonal level Cricket Cup.
The IGP assured the participating players that more and more sports events will be organize in near future with the objective to help young cricketers for their bright career in sports and to develop sports culture among youth of the J&K.
IGP Jammu also appreciated KC Sports Club Jammu for providing all infrastructures for smooth conduct of the Zonal level matches.
SSP Ashok Sharma, SO to IGP Jammu, SSP Pawan Parihar SO to DIG Jammu, Rajesh Gill former Ranji player and member Indian Cricket Association, SP Rural Sanjay Sharma, SP Telecom Sushil Kachru, Arjun Choudhary MD KC Sports Club, Rajeshwer Basotra Senior Prosecuting Officer, Kousheen Koul DySP, Mahesh Sharma SHO Domana and Inspector Rajesh Anand were also present during the event.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Sabastian and Sanjay, whereas the proceedings and commentary of the inaugural match were conducted by famous anchor RP Singh and Senior Prosecuting Officer, Rakesh Sambyal.
