JAMMU, Apr 23: Zonal Level Inter-School tournaments in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling were held at different venues of Akhnoor, Bhalwal and RS Pura zones, today.
The tournaments are being held under the patronage of the Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the chairmanship and supervision of Deputy Director, Jammu and DYSSO Jammu respectively.
In Bhalwal Zone, the Tournament was held at Government Higher Secondary School Bhalwal, which were supervised by Veena Tikoo, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Bhalwal.
Earlier, the Tournament was declared open by the Principal GHSS Bhalwal, Sirsa Ram, who while addressing advised the students to participate in the game with true sporting spirit.
The matches in different disciplines were officiated by Sunil Abrol, Balwan Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Ajeet Singh, Ram Murti, Sham Singh, Ajmer Singh, Ram Pal, Raj Manhas, Alka Manhas, Sunman Kumari, Geeta Razdan, Reenu Sapru and Krishna Kumari.
At Akhnoor, the tournament was held at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor, which was supervised by Anju Gupta, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Akhnoor.
In Kabaddi Under-17 girls, HS Sungal outplayed HSS Sohal, St Francis HSS trounced HS Bhalwal and Govt GHSS Akhnoor defeated HSS St Francis, while in Kabaddi Under-14 girls, HS Kot Garhi beat MS Sohal and HS Barui got better of HS Sungal.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 girls, MS Daskal beat GMS Akhnoor, HSS St Francis prevailed over HS Devipur, MS Daskal beat HS Balwal and HSS St Francis beat HS Chander Bhaga by one point, while Kho-Kho Under-17 girls, GHSS Akhnoor defeated HS Balwal, HS Sungal trounced HSS Sohal and HSS Narrari Bal beat HS Sunail.
The matches were officiated by Bua Ditta, Anu, Romesh Lal, Sujata Kumari, Darshan Devi, Chander Prabha, Dalip Sachdeva, Jagdish Sharma, Raman Gupta and Banarsi Lal Sharma.
At RS Pura Zone, the tournament was held at MS Mill Area, RS Pura, which was declared open by ZEPO RS Pura, Suresh Dubey, ZPEO RS Pura, Chander Kanta and Headmistress, GGMS RS Pura in a well attended function.
