Zone Miran Sahib wins U-19 Boys Chess title

JAMMU, Sept 18: Zone Miran Sahib clinched the U-19 Boys Chess title in a thrilling final against Zone Jammu at the Inter Zonal District Level Chess Competition held at Scout and Guide Hall, Gandhi Nagar, here.
The competition, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), saw the top young chess players from five zones across district Jammu compete for the prestigious title.
In the semi-finals, Zone Miran Sahib showcased their prowess by defeating Zone Dansal with a commanding 3-1 score, while Zone Jammu edged out Zone Satwari in a closely fought match, winning 2-1 to book their place in the final.
The final match between Zone Miran Sahib and Zone Jammu was a nail-biter, with Zone Miran Sahib emerging victorious by a 2-1 margin, securing the championship.
The event was held under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT, Rajinder Singh Tara, and Joint Director Ved Parkash, with overall supervision by DYSSO Jammu, Sunil Kumar Sharma, and I/C DYSSO Harvinder Kour. Kour lauded the efforts of all participants and presented medals and certificates to the winners, encouraging the young talents to continue striving for excellence in future competitions.
