New Delhi, July 9: Demanding Pir Panjal Squad in Indian Army, Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali met Union Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar and also take up the issues of re-aligning of fence line on LoC and de-mining of agriculture land in the border areas of the Jammu & Kashmir.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali submitted a memorandum to the Union Defense Minister in which prime most demand was regarding the unemployed tribal youths. Minister demanded creation of Pir Panjal Squads in India Army by recruiting un-employed youths of tribal community. The Union Minister agreed on the demand to initiate the process for the same.
Minister also took up the issue of development of tribal areas under Sadbhavana scheme by providing facilities like drinking water, community bathrooms, roads, community halls, solar lights etc.
Zulfkar discussed the issue of realigning of fence on the LoC areas in which various villages have been sandwiched between the erected fence. He said that these people are facing various problems to cross the erected gates on fence.
Showing concern towards farmers, Minister demanded de-mining of the agricultural land near Line of Control LoC and International Border in Jammu & Kashmir. He apprised the Union Minister that a huge chunk of agricultural land near LoC and border areas of Jammu & Kashmir has remained unused due to mining in the lands, with the result, a number of farmers are suffering badly.
Meanwhile, Zulfkar also raised an important issue of compensation to landmine victim living near LoC areas. He said that various people are affected by mine blasts on LoC and border areas. He added that no proper compensation has been paid to them.
Minister also took up the issue of compensation of the land acquired by defence authorities at Palma Rajouri.
Union Defence Minister Mahohar Parrikar gave patient hearing to the issues raised by Zulfkar and assured all possible measures to be taken by the Union Ministry to redress these problems.
