JAMMU, Jan 15: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today laid foundation of Controller Office and Secondary Standard Laboratory Complex of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) at Transport Nagar, Narwal here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Central Government for providing Rs 6 crore funding for revitalizing and restructuring of LMD in the State. He informed that the State Government is continuously in contact with the Union Government for getting more finances for LMD to make it a vibrant unit for larger interest of consumers of the State.
Giving a break up of this prestigious Rs 6 crore project, the Minister informed that the amount would be expended on construction of new buildings for LMD in districts besides equipping the checking squads with latest technical knowhow. He said efforts are being made to construct one LMD building in every district of the State. In this regard, he directed the concerned officers to formulate a comprehensive proposal.
The Minister urged upon the State Housing Board to complete the construction work on these buildings within shortest possible time.
Zulfkar Ali said the present dispensation is working earnestly towards creating a conducive and comfortable atmosphere for its employees so that they deliver the best to the public.
Asking the construction agency to expedite the work on all departmental constructions, the Minister assured Managing Director, State Housing Board, Vipra Bhal, that there would be no delay in release of funds or other requisite support from the department.
The Minister asked them to make sure that the ground floor of new building at Warehouse is completed by March this year besides constructing the LMD secondary laboratory at Narwal by August this year.
Director FCS&CA, Jammu G S Chib, Special Secretary, FCS&CA, Nissar Ahmad, Additional Secretary Ramesh Kumar, Joint Controller, Jammu, Legal Metrology Department, V S Sambyal , Joint Controller, Legal Metrology, Kashmir Amar Singh, Deputy Controller Manoj Prabakhar, and other concerned officers attended the function.
