SRINAGAR, July 18: Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today chaired a meeting of officers and reviewed the stock and supply position of essential commodities in Kashmir Division.
Among other, the meeting was attended by Secretary, CA&PD Shafiq Raina, Director, CA&PD, Kashmir, Syed Mushtaq Shah, Director, Finance, CA&PD Suresh Koul and other senior officers of department.
Expressing satisfaction over distribution of 63 percent food-grains during the current month among rationees of Valley, the Minister appreciated officers and officials of the department, besides dealers, Ghat Munshis and Fair Price Shop owners who played significant role in distribution of ration in tough time.
The Minister said that the department engaged about 300 trucks for transportation of ration for the districts of the valley including Leh and Kargil. He said that the department has sufficient stock of food-grains and other essential commodities.
He said that there is sufficient stock of essential commodities available in the Valley and would be distributed within few days. He said that 589 trucks loaded with essential commodities including food-grains, vegetables, fruits, poultry birds, sheeps, diesel, petrol, LPG and K.oil have crossed Lower Munda Toll Post and would be reached at their destinations soon.
The meeting was informed that out of 4.53 lakh quintals of released ration, the department has distributed 2.83 lakh quintals of food-grains among the rationees of Valley. As many as 3670 quintals of food-grains have been distributed in Anantnag district, 23366 quintals in Bandipora, 68516 quintals in Baramulla, 28130 quintals in Budgam, 11405 quintals in Ganderbal, 47611 quintals in Kupwara, 9262 quintals in Kulgam, 20009 quintals in Pulwama, 6051 quintals in Shopian, 32560 quintals in Srinagar, 7169 quintals in Leh and 6996 quintals in Kargil districts, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was informed that the department has also distributed 207076 quintals of sugar during this month among rationees.
Receiving first hand appraisal of distribution of ration and other essentials locality-wise in Srinagar city, the Minister was informed that ration and other essentials have been distributed in almost all the localities. The Ration Ghats remain opened for distribution of ration on July 16, 17 and 18.
