Those looking after the temple’s affairs informed ‘Excelsior’ that the current figures surpass those of previous years, crediting this growth to improved facilities and the overall conducive environment.
“We have witnessed a substantial increase in the number of pilgrims, and concurrently, we have noticed more youngsters embarking on journeys to visit historic places and temples. We anticipate the number to further rise this year,” expressed the head priest at the temple.
He added that during the Amarnath Yatra, they also observed a footfall of nearly 50-60 thousand pilgrims visiting the temple on their way back from the Holy Cave pilgrimage.
“There has been a significant improvement in the facilities provided to pilgrims here compared to earlier times, and this could be one of the factors contributing to the increased footfall,” noted Reena, a pilgrim visiting the temple with her family.
The Temple management stated that they have taken several steps to enhance the surroundings of the temple, with a special focus on upgrading facilities.
“Muslims are also contributing here, ensuring that pilgrims have the best possible experience, reflecting the selfless service of these individuals to devotees from various parts of the country. Some visitors even reconnect with those who used to be their neighbours long ago when they lived here. For them, it is more than a mere visit.”
Locals mentioned that the increased number of pilgrims has led to a boost in economic activities around the temple, creating numerous employment opportunities for the local population.
“A few years back, the local market would not see much activity, and if there was any, it used to be on Mela days. However, now things seem to be shifting towards overall improvement,” remarked a local resident.
