JAMMU, Oct 9: One person was killed while eighteen others injured when a mini-bus shifting border people from Pargwal area to Akhnoor town fell into a gorge near Garkhal this evening while two persons were injured in yet another accident in Kotranka area.
Reports said that the first mishap took place when an over loaded mini-bus which was on way to Kameshwar Temple Sarai at Akhnoor from Pargwal area met with an accident. As the vehicle reached near Garkhal, the road was narrow and a tracker trolley coming from the opposite side slightly hit the vehicle and the driver lost control and the vehicle landed into a gorge.
The police and locals of the area rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Akhnoor hospital. Most of them were women. The doctors provided them treatment and referred four of them to Govt Medical College Hospital Jammu. One Thoru Ram (65), son of Sunder Dass, resident of Garkhal succumbed to injuries in GMC Hospital. Condition of another seriously injured Yashpal was also said to be serious. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, two persons were seriously injured when a tempo skidded of the road and fell into a deep gorge near Kotranka in district Rajouri. The mishap took place when the vehicle No. JK02AB/6822 was on way to Kotranka from Khandi Gali. When it reached near Khaniyari Morh, the driver lost control and it rolled down into a gorge. Both the injured Abdul Majid, son of Wali Mohd from Bain Nambla village and Shah Nawaz, son of Mohd Azam from Kotranka were shifted to Kotranka hospital by police. Later, Majid was referred to District hospital, Rajouri.
