JAMMU, Jan 8: One person was killed late last night and five others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts while one person tried to end his life in Jhajjar Kotli area.
According to a police spokesperson, a Sikh youth identified as Dalbir Singh (25) son of Harjit Singh, a resident of Digiana was on his way to home late last night on his bike when an unknown car hit him and left seriously injured near Satwari Airport.
The injured youth was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment, but after few minutes she succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs after conducting post mortem today.
A woman pedestrian identified as Shahida Begum (48) wife of Mohd Iqbal, a resident of Channi Rama today received injuries when he was hit by a bike near Malik Market, Narwal. She was also referred to GMCH for treatment. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
A girl pedestrian was also hit by an unknown car at City Chowk. In the mishap, the girl identified as Sonia (20), daughter of Ram Rattan of Bari Brahmana suffered serious injuries and shifted to GMCH for treatment. The City police has taken cognizance of the matter.
At Anand Nagar (Bohri), a 15 year old boy was also hit by a mini-bus. In the mishap, the boy identified as Jatinder Kumar (15) son of Madan Lal, a resident of Udeywala, suffered minor injuries. He was shifted to GMCH for treatment.
Two bike-borne youths were also injured when their bike bearing registration No-JK21-9859 collided head on with an ambassador car (having registration No JK02AF-6333) near Railway Bridge, Narwal. In the mishap, one of the youths identified as Arjun Kumar (20) son of Sanjay Sharma, a resident of Jakh (Tirlokpur) received serious injuries while another youth namely, Pawan Kumar (20) son of Mangal Dass of Miran Sahib suffered minor injuries.
Both were shifted to GMCH for treatment from where later Pawan Kumar was discharged after providing first aid. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Trikuta Nagar police station and investigations started.
Meanwhile, a 27 year old youth namely Kaka Ram son of Chunni Lal, a resident of Khatrui in Dansal area falling in the limits of Jhajjar Kotli police station tried to end his life at his residence by setting himself ablaze, this evening. In the blaze, the youth received about 20% injuries and was immediately shifted by family members to GMCH for treatment, where his condition was stated to be stable.
According to the reports, the youth was ailing with some disease for quite a long time and depressed over this he took this extreme step. A case FIR No 02/2015 under Section 309 RPC has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and further investigations are on.
