SRINAGAR: One of the holed up militants at village Rishipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama was killed in an encounter with security forces, official sources said.
They said 50 Rashtriya Rifles, 183 CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation at Rishipora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, following a tip off about the presence of militants in the area. However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants opened fire.
Security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, they said, adding one militant has been killed so far. More reinforcement was rushed and cordon around the particular area was further tightened. The encounter was still going on when the last reports came in. (AGENCIES)
