10-day training program on AYUSH system for GCoE students concludes

JAMMU, Jan 17: A 10-day training programme titled ‘Arogya Vidya’ to train the prospective teachers i.e. students of BEd and MEd courses of Government College of Education (GCoE) Jammu, on AYUSH system for self care and to develop health promoting schools, concluded today.
The training program was conducted to promote health and wellness through AYUSH and in accordance to vision of G-20 themes of propagation of strengths of AYUSH systems, by Directorate of AYUSH J&K in collaboration with GCoE Jammu.
This exemplary value added course was conceived and implemented under the guidance of Dr Mohan Singh (Director AYUSH J&K) and Prof Aekta Gupta (Principal, GCoE Jammu). In all 30 students were enrolled in the course.
The course was based on the learning by doing methodology in which prospective teachers were made aware about principles and practices of holistic health and healthy living i.e. Dincharya (Daily wellness regimen), Ritucharya (Seasonal Wellness Regimen), Sadvrutta (Health code of conduct), Home remedies, medicinal plants, Yoga, Naturopathy, Panchkarma etc.
The students who were enrolled in the program were also imparted practical training of all the components of AYUSH through onsite demonstrations at Government Ayurvedic Hospital and AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers. Onsite training of school health program at AHWC Smailpur was also arranged.
At the end of course, an online test was also conducted in which all the students passed in flying colors. The module of course was designed by Prof Rajinder Kaur from GCoE and Dr Arun Gupta from Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu.
Today, a valedictory function was organized in the premises of Directorate of AYUSH J&K, wherein the students of the course were given certificates of course completion. The function was presided over by Prof Aekta Gupta and Dr Mohan Singh.
In his address, Dr Mohan Singh highlighted that this initiative is an attempt to develop teachers as ambassador of health and wellness so that they learn the principles and practices of healthy living enshrined in the rich tradition of AYUSH systems of health care and pass on the learning to their students.
