Sr. doc tests +ve 3rd time despite vaccination

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, June 21: Ten persons died of COVID-19 and 362 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today. Seven deaths were reported in Kashmir and three in Jammu.
One COVID casualty each was reported from Kishtwar, Doda and Rajouri districts in Jammu division.
A 45-year-old man from Manjakote in Rajouri district died of COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri while 52-year-old woman from Akramabad in Doda district succumbed to the virus in the GMC Doda. An 80-yerar-old man hailing from Brahaman Mohalla in Kishtwar district breathed his last in the District Hospital Kishtwar.
All three COVID victims had no co-morbidities.
Meanwhile, a senior doctor has tested positive for COVID-19 for the third time in Rajouri district.
Dr Javed Chowdhary, who is posted as Nodal Officer for COVID Management in the GMC Rajouri for last two years, today tested positive for COVID-19 for third time.
Dr Chowdhary was first tested positive for pathogen last year and second time in early this year. It was for the third time when he was found infected.
Significantly, Dr Chowdhary is double vaccinated. He has taken second dose of Covishield 34 days back.
However, condition of Dr Chowdhary is stated to be stable.
Among 101 COVID positive cases in the Jammu region, 27 were reported from Doda district, 15 Rajouri, 13 Ramban, 10 Udhampur, nine each in Jammu and Poonch, eight each in Kishtwar and Reasi and one each in Kathua and Samba districts.
As against 101 fresh cases, 264 persons today recovered from the virus, the highest 98 in Jammu district, 62 Doda, 31 Udhampur, 24 Rajouri, 21 Samba, 12 Kishtwar, 10 Kathua, five Reasi and one in Poonch district.
Jammu region now has 1,18,379 Corona cases. Among them, 2876 are active positives while 1,13,429 have recovered and there have been 2074 casualties.
Maximum 1124 Corona casualties have been recorded in Jammu district followed by 214 in Rajouri, 149 Kathua, 131 Udhampur, 118 Samba, 108 Doda, 87 Poonch, 60 Ramban, 42 Reasi and 41 in Kishtwar district.
Meanwhile, one person died of Coronavirus and 22 fresh positive cases were reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
Lone COVID fatality was reported in Leh district.
Of 22 new cases, 21 were registered in Leh and one in Kargil.
New cases have taken Corona count in Ladakh to 19805 including 363 active positives, 19240 recoveries and 202 casualties—144 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, CD hospital Jammu would resume its services of regular Out-Patient Departments (OPD) from Wednesday, GMC Jammu Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma said.
Patients would be checked in Out-Patient Department between 10 am and 2 pm.
Patients can book their appointment telephonically on all working days. However, the total number of appointments per day has been capped at 25 .
The appointments would be given by the CD & TB staff by a dedicated SIM provided to them.
Patients are advised to attend the OPD by prior appointment only, failing which they may not be liable to be examined by the doctors in OPD.
In view of the downward trend of COVID -19 pandemic, Ward Nos. 7,8,9 and 10 of CD Hospital are de-notified as non- COVID Wards.
Meanwhile, Chairman, DDMA Leh, Shrikant Suse, has notified new COVID-19 SOPs/guidelines applicable from June 21 to 28, with the intention of gradual unlocking of restrictions in the district.
The District Administration Leh has further amended the previous roster prepared regarding commercial activities. Groceries/ general stores, fruits/ vegetable/ milk products, meat/ chicken shops, nanwai and bakeries would be allowed to open on all days of the week from 7 AM to 5 PM. Hardware shops and stores dealing with construction materials and vehicles needed for their transportation would also be allowed to open on all days from 5 AM to 1 PM.
Commercial establishments such as readymade garments/shoe, tailoring, home furnishing, workshop/ service, tyre stations, spare part repair, automobile shops, travel and tour/ ticket booking agencies, mobile repair, electronic appliances, IT and computer shops, dish TV, recharge shops/kiosks, printing press, photostat, stationeries/book/ sports/gift shops, cosmetic, souvenir/art shops and jewellery/goldsmiths would be allowed to open on all days from 1 PM till 8 PM.
As per the new SOPs/ guidelines, the district administration would allow barbershops/ beauty parlours/ salons and wine shops to open on all days, from 7 AM to 8 PM. Restaurants and bars would be allowed to operate with 50% seating capacity on all days from 7 AM to 9 PM. Hotels should encourage room services and operate their dine-in facilities with a 50% seating capacity.
The movement of vehicles would be allowed on all the days with 50% seating capacity. E-commerce services are allowed to operate on all days from 7 AM to 8 PM. The developmental activities and construction works would be allowed with minimal movement of labourers and workers. Similarly, private offices would be allowed to open with strict observance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour. The night curfew in the district for non-essential services would remain in force on all days between 10 PM to 5 AM.
The relaxations under the new SOPs would not be applicable in areas notified as containment zones.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 261 fresh cases of COVID-19 while seven people succumbed to the viral infection.
Those who tested positive include 79 from Srinagar, 14 from Baramulla, 37 from Budgam, 21 from Pulwama, 22 from Kupwara, 44 from Anantnag, 11 from Bandipora, 13 from Ganderbal, 18 from Kulgam and two from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 69,227 positive cases including 820 deaths and 67,117 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,025 including 276 deaths and 22,213 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,332 including 21,493 recoveries and 201 deaths are from Budgam, 14,700 including 13,891 recoveries and 188 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,578 including 160 deaths and 12,875 recoveries are from Kupwara, 15,845 including 15,206 recoveries and 197 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,170 cases including 8,827 and 99 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,457 including 9,163 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 10,907 including 10,483 recoveries and 113 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,536 including 5,438 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 193,777 including 186,706 recoveries and 2,188 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,759 including 4,883 from Kashmir division.
With 1,224 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 300,135 which is 96,14 percent of the total cases.
And as the administration started easing the corona curfew restrictions with the decline in COVID-19 positive cases, heavy traffic jams were witnessed in Srinagar and its adjoining areas.
The heavy traffic jams were witnessed in many areas in the summer capital especially in the city hub Lal Chowk. The drivers and the commuters complained that the vehicles were stuck at Rambagh -Jahangir Chowk for hours.
Traffic jams across the city irked the commuters, waiting to reach their destinations.
Massive traffic jams were also witnessed on different stretches of the city including Rajbagh to Jahangir Chowk, Nowgam to Rambagh and Chanapora to Jahangir Chowk along on other routes.
